The Ottomans began to attack the city and realizing that a siege would be too long and expensive, because the city was wealthy and it could have support itself, decided to deflect the course of the Somes; there exist even today a street called Taietura Turcului in that area; Donath, a shepherd who was grazing his flocks in the nearby of the Hoia forrest, observed their arrival and ran to announce the citizens, dying soon after because of the effort and thus becoming a local hero.
